Sci-Fi + Hollywood: The Art of John Zabrucky
Traveling Exhibit
For 50 years, John Zabrucky created high-tech, futuristic props now associated with the most iconic science fiction productions of the 20th century. This exhibit showcases over 40 props designed by Zarucky and his team at Modern Props, the Hollywood prop house renowned for its work on Blade Runner, Men in Black, Galaxy Quest, and numerous Star Trek movies and TV Shows.
The Modern Props collections, totaling over 500 props, will serve as the foundation for the Museum of Science Fiction & Fantasy Arts, the first museum in the United States solely dedicated to the science fiction and fantasy genres. The museum is currently slated to open in Zabrucky's hometown of Warren, Ohio, under the direction of the Trumbull County Historical Society.
This exhibit explores the art of prop making, the innovation and challenges of designing for the future, and Zabrucky's keen design eye that led the L.A. Today Show to state, "Perhaps more than anyone else, Zabrucky's vision of the future has helped to shape our own."
